Emeka Ozumba is a 1987 graduate of Mass Communications from the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu. He obtained Post Graduate Diploma from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism in 1995. He is also an alumnus of the Pan African University, Lagos.

He started his career as a public relations officer with the Nigerian Prisons Service where he served until 1994. He was the national coordinating consultant, awareness generation and consensus building campaign for the privatization programme of the National Council on Privatization (NCP) from 2000 to 2005.  He was the practice leader in public affairs at C&F Porter Novelli (formerly Corporate & Financial Communications Limited, Lagos).

Ozumba is currently a Senior Special Assistant (Media) to the Governor of Anambra State. Prior to his stint as a political office holder, he was the Managing Consultant at Ozion Limited, a government/public affairs and media advisory consultancy based in Abuja.

He is a member of several professional associations including Nigerian Institute of Public Relations  and Nigerian Institute of Management .

He is married to Peace and they have three children.
